Today, the Chinese style in the interior attracts people’s attention more and more. This is often due to an interest in the practice of Feng Shui. The unusual style, which has absorbed the culture of more than one millennium, is original. And its traditional details and ornaments are difficult to confuse with something else.

Interior according to the rules of Feng Shui.
Features of style in the interior
Chinese residents especially appreciate simplicity and expressiveness, so the rooms have low compact furniture, functional cabinets and dressers, sliding screens for zoning. The decor is distinguished by restraint and thoughtfulness.
In the decoration, wood is used as widely as possible. When choosing ornaments, preference is given to oriental themes. Drawings are often specific symbols that carry a hidden meaning and a certain energy.

It is not recommended to use decor, furniture or structures with sharp corners when finishing. This is due to the peculiarities of the Feng Shui teaching. It is believed that sharp corners attract and hold the negative. Interestingly, along with this, the rooms are zoned using partitions, creating some geometry in space.

Finishing materials
Bamboo parquet is ideal for finishing the floor. But in its absence, wood of a rich shade, dark or reddish, and large ceramic tiles are suitable. The mosaic looks beautiful with frames all over the area and a certain element in the center. Mats or a carpet with a national pattern are placed on the floor.
There is an opinion that the first underfloor heating system was invented by the Chinese, sleeping on mats on the floor on top of the heating pipes laid wooden flooring. Today’s system, of course, looks very different, but it will also come in handy.

Dining area.
In most cases, the walls are painted, plastered or decorated with wood panels. In small rooms, designers recommend sheathing only one wall with dark wood. This will visually expand the room. Chinese interiors can’t do without paper wallpaper. Partly because the Chinese began pasting the walls of their homes with rice paper thousands of years ago and preserved the tradition.
But special attention in interior decoration is paid to ceilings – a symbol of heavenly height. In small rooms, whitewash or white paint is more often used. The Chinese flavor is created with the help of a carved wooden border around the perimeter. In spacious rooms, multi-level structures are created, decorating them with lighting and decorative details. Shades for the ceiling are more often chosen among blue, beige or cream.

Color palette
Not only do different symbols carry different energy and meaning, but also colors. The palette is carefully thought out and does not tolerate variegation.
For example, shades of red attract good luck. They are used in decoration, upholstery, carpets.
Green tones correspond to growth. Sunny yellow – nobility. The brown tone is a symbol of fertility. Shades of blue will help attract well-being, and gold – wealth.

Green-red interior.
Today, a combination of black with red and gold shades is most often used in interior design. Add bordeaux, rich green. The composition is completed with yellow.
Interestingly, the white color is a symbol of mourning and death, so with the traditional design it should be completely abandoned. But modern trends often use white in decoration and furniture.

Furniture
Wood is the main material. Most furniture is made of sandalwood, oak, walnut or rattan. Bamboo models are popular. There is also painted plywood, painted with a traditional pattern. There are not many pieces of furniture in the rooms. All elegant and practical.

Chinese interior design.
The height distinguishes Chinese furniture. Cabinets, dressers, shelves and sofas are noticeably lower than their European counterparts. Storage systems are often wide and deep – roomy. Instead of bulky sofas, Chinese people often use large pillows sitting on them. Pillows are placed around a low coffee table.
The location of mirrors and furnishings depend on the rules of Feng Shui, so some items are paired, and others are symmetrical to each other. The room is furnished from the center moving to the walls of the room.

Decorative elements
The Chinese-style interior is a special minimalism filled with a lot of decorative details. These are porcelain figurines. Wide fans on the walls and bamboo mats. Embroidered satin pillows. Vases. Bonsai and fresh flowers.

Decorative elements in the interior.
An important detail not only of the decor, but also of everyday life is a wooden screen. With its help, the space is divided into zones. They are decorated with paintings, carvings or painted. Branches of cherry blossoms and dragons are considered traditional motifs.
Paper lanterns made of matte paper of red or light shades, bronze bells and incense will help to complete the design and add a touch of real China. Trees or flowers are usually placed on the floor, and porcelain ornaments and dishes are placed on wide shelves.

Round arch.
Before choosing accessories, you should carefully study their meanings and figure out what is typical for China and what is typical for other countries of the mysterious East. The lotus flower, for example, protects against witchcraft, and the panda symbolizes cheerfulness, absence of conflicts. The popular Koi carp belong to the symbols of Japan and represent tranquility.
There should be no broken, torn and repaired things in the Chinese interior. They negatively affect the flow of energies. Therefore, it is worth getting rid of a broken vase or mug right away.
Lighting
There are no curtains in the houses of China. The windows are curtained with frosted sliding panels or grilles decorated with carvings. In today’s reality, Roman curtains and thin dense bamboo fiber shutters are acceptable. Shutters are installed on the outside of windows in private houses.

Office.
Chandeliers are usually not used or choose options with large plafonds that create shade. But floor lamps are used with rice paper lamp shades. Artificial lighting is warm and soft, creating a cozy atmosphere in the room.

Chinese interior design in different rooms
For interior decoration in Chinese style, it is necessary to take into account certain rules of decoration in different rooms.
Living room
If the room is decorated in a strictly traditional style, then an altar for worship will be necessary. As a rule, this is a chest of drawers or a small table with incense vessels. Such a living room will not do without wide sofas-sunbeds.
But in today’s interpretation of the style, the living room is more often furnished with sofas and tables covered with lacquer or decorated with wooden inlay – intarsia. A mandatory attribute is a set of dishes for a tea ceremony.

Kitchen
Kitchen furniture is chosen in dark colors. Lacquered, decorated with intarsia or carving. Work surfaces are often made of real stone. Sofas and armchairs without upholstery, but with decorative soft pillows. Household appliances are removed behind the cabinet doors and are not left in plain sight.
The kitchen is decorated more simply. The walls are painted in a light tone, and ceramic tiles are chosen for the apron. Plain or patterned. Parquet or laminate, imitating natural wood, is placed on the floor.

Kitchen.
Today, the option of combining a working kitchen area with a guest or dining room is often found. This is done in order to expand the room. In this case, it is important to at least visually separate the zones from each other. For example, a different shade of walls or flooring. If the separation is planned to be literal, wood panels, screens or decorative shelving will do.
The table is chosen large wooden or made of other materials. Simple geometric shape, but round – in high esteem.

Bedroom
The room breathes exoticism and minimalism. The main thing is to achieve harmony between them and not overload the bedroom with furniture. A low bed and bedside tables are enough. The shades are dominated by brown and beige with the addition of black, red and gold strokes. Decorate the walls with screens or drape with silk.

Bathroom
The main shade of the bathroom is red. If not in the decoration, then at least in the decor of the room. Ceramic tiles with a traditional pattern will help to emphasize the features of the Chinese color. Bamboo decor will complement the bathroom: lampshades, laundry baskets or a mirror frame.
